PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Perched above Tuscany’s Monte Argentario coast, Villa La Cacciarella is a refined holiday retreat that balances vintage elegance with contemporary Italian living. Originally built in 1968 by architect Michele Boris, the villa has been meticulously reimagined through a three-year renovation led by New York–based interior design studio Charles & Co., in collaboration with Squared Architect, which led the architectural design coordination.

Squared Architect played a central role in redefining the villa’s spatial experience, beginning with a key architectural gesture: revealing and prioritising the sea view. By reorienting the layout and opening up sightlines, the studio ensured the Mediterranean panorama becomes an immediate and constant presence throughout the home. Overlooking its namesake beach and within walking distance of Porto Santo Stefano, the villa now feels both deeply rooted in its Italian context and distinctly modern.

The interiors reflect a contemporary interpretation of 1970s Italian Riviera living, with architecture and interior design working in seamless dialogue. Modern comforts were seamlessly integrated while preserving the villa’s relaxed, residential character. Outdoors, the re-terraced landscape introduces multiple levels designed to maximise both views and usability, from the heated pool to shaded dining terraces intended for effortless entertaining.

The result is a home that feels intuitive, elegant, and deeply connected to its setting. More than a holiday villa, La Cacciarella stands as a considered architectural transformation—one that respects its 1960s origins while providing a timeless framework for contemporary coastal living.
