Project description
This 155 m² apartment in Maida Vale has been redesigned to create a calm, refined home with a strong sense of continuity between rooms. The design works with the generous proportions of the building, from the tall bay windows of the living room to the long hallway that connects the different areas of the flat. The plan accommodates three bedrooms and three bathrooms, an open kitchen and dining room, a study and a utility room.
A restrained material palette ties the spaces together: wide pale timber floorboards run throughout, while dark oak joinery appears as a recurring element, from the full-height bookcase and media wall in the living room to the panelling of the hallway and bathrooms. A concealed lighting cove follows the curve of the bay, softly washing the ceiling and emphasising the geometry of the room.
The kitchen introduces colour through tall olive green units with integrated appliances, set against a stone-topped island with fluted dark timber. Steel-framed doors with reeded glass separate the rooms while letting natural light pass through, creating subtle layers of transparency along the plan.
In the bathrooms, handmade-effect tiles, stone washbasins and dark oak cabinetry continue the same language at a smaller scale. Every element has been detailed to feel quiet and precise, resulting in a home that is warm, ordered and timeless.
